The following pictures show a typical infusion strategy for manufacturing a yacht hull (in this case, a Contest 50, consisting of glass mats and fabrics, balsa cores and vinylester resin). The reinforcement is covered with a main runner and side runners and a plastic film which is sealed on the mould flange with tacky tape.

Start of infusion: the mould is under vacuum. The resin flows into the main and side runners.
The resin flows into the reinforcement while impregnating the glass fibres.
The infusion is proceeding; the resin fronts meet.
After 75 minutes the structure is almost completely impregnated with resin.
