| Composite automotive spring-knuckle |
Er is nog geen Nederlandse vertalingen beschikbaar.![]() The composite spring-knuckle is a simple solution for a wheel suspension system. As many functions as possible have been combined in one single component, using a clever combination of fibre directions and geometry:
The main advantage of a lightweight wheel suspension is the low unsprung weight, responsible for a comfortable vehicle, easy to handle. A rough estimation of costs and weight is:
In terms of costs and performance the glass fibre composite is the best solution. In this case, the laminate thickness determines the stiffness. The glass fibre component handles the mechanical loads more efficiently. The weight reduction compared to steel is 50% or more! In this project Lightweight Structures B.V. added its expertise to PDE Automotive B.V. in Helmond. PDE is an experienced automotive engineering company with expertises in all Vehicle Development and Testing areas. PDE has highly experienced people and advanced engineering tools like Matlab, Simulink and ADAMS. The structure was defined by PDE with a 3-D CAD system. CATIA, I-DEAS, Pro-Engineer and UG are available. |
