Lightweight Structures B.V. engineered a composite life boat for search and rescue operations for Damen Shipyards (Netherlands). The life boat was designed and tested to withstand heavy slamming conditions and a free fall of 3 m resulting in 90 g forces under the engine supports. The life boat has to be able to develop high speeds (35 knots) demanding a lightweight design. The boat was manufactured using vacuum infusion.
